Honors Social Studies Homework #01

There are two parts to your homework assignment, with both parts due this coming Tuesday, September 6th.

Part I is completing today’s classwork, which is indicated in the table below. It is imperative that this be completed prior to class on Tuesday, September 6th, otherwise you will be confused once we begin that day’s activities. Click here to download a copy of your Unit 1 Booklet.

Honors Lesson 01

Part II requires you to follow the directions below.

  1. Click on this link to download your homework on the Columbian Exchange. This file is in word format.
  2. After you have downloaded your homework assignment, follow the directions listed therein by directly editing the word document.
    1. You will need to answer the discussion questions in the document, and can directly type your answers into your word copy.
    2. You will also need to circle images and draw arrows upon images in the document as well as number specific locations on images.
    3. In word, to circle an image you need to:
      1. Click insert at the top; then
      2. Click shapes; then
      3. Go to lines and click freeform. You will now be able to use your cursor to draw a circle anywhere on the word document.
      4. After you have drawn your circle, click on shape fill at the top and then click on no fill. Your circle will now be transparent and will not block any image or text.
      5. Deselect your circle.
    4. In word, to draw an arrow you need to:
      1. Click insert at the top; then
      2. Click shapes; then
      3. Go to lines and click the unidirectional arrow. You will now be able to use your cursor to draw a line anywhere on the word document.
      4. Deselect your arrow.
    5. In word, to add numbers and text to an image you need to:
      1. Click insert at the top; then
      2. Click text box; then
      3. Click simple text box. A text box will appear and you can type whatever text is required.
      4. Drag the text box to the appropriate area of the image.
      5. After you have typed in your text box, click on shape fill at the top and then click on no fill. Your text box will now be transparent and will not block any image or text.
      6. Deselect your text box.
  3. Once you have completed your homework assignment, upload it to your google drive, then share it with me at raymond.cordova@dpsnc.net
  4. I will upload a brief video demonstrating circling and adding text to an image at a later date in a separate post.
